INDIE HEAD MASSAGE

Also known as “Champissage”, Indie Head Massage is a holistic therapy from the ancient healing system of Ayurveda. This treatment is a slow-paced, soothing massage focused on muscles and connective tissues of the face, neck, scalp, upper back, and shoulders. It incorporates soothing strokes, deep thumb and finger pressure along with invigorating friction movements designed to reduce stress, ease muscle pain, and naturally improve health and circulation.  Conditions often treated with Indie Head Massage include migraines, tinnitus, sinusitis, insomnia, hair loss, anxiety, and depression.

Treatment Frequency

Regular treatments can assist the body in maintaining health and correct slight imbalances before they become a problem.

For general health balance and maintenance: 

  • 1 treatment a month

For an acute condition: 

  • 1 treatment a day until you improve

For a chronic condition: 

  • 1 treatment a week to manage symptoms

How often you treat yourself to an Indie Head Massage is best left to your own judgement. You may find weekly scalp massages help maintain a calm, positive vibe or treatments every few months help keep your hair shiny and healthy! My treatments can be modified to target specific areas of your wellbeing needs and take up less of your time allowing you the opportunity to have a budget friendly ritual which can easily fit into life’s busy schedule. 

Treatment Process

The session will start with a consult where I will find out more about your life, your stressors, and the areas in which you are suffering and need relief. My treatment is a continuous flow of movements up the body and into the head to give you a genuine experience of this ancient healing practice. We will begin with you laying on your stomach with a focus on your shoulders and upper back, leading into your neck and scalp. From here, you will turn onto your back and the treatment will continue from your arms, up to your face, and finishing with another invigorating, yet relaxing scalp massage. A warm, nurturing, coconut-based oil blend* is applied to open your senses and assist in the healing process. The soothing scent of lavender instantly promotes peace and relaxation while sage relieves stress, provides antioxidants and reduces oil build up. Lastly, hints of rosemary to stimulate hair growth, increase brain function, improve circulation, and reduce inflammation. 

Oil applied to the scalp and hair help to nourish and hydrate so I recommend leaving the oil on overnight to allow the healing effects to continue. These essential oils are easily removed by shampooing your hair twice. 

This treatment can also be given in a seated position with or without oil providing a clean, quick treatment option for those who are going back to work or have other plans.
